Dr Tanya Burgess is an Australian trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who has undertaken sub-speciality training in Hand, Wrist and Microsurgery. She obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery in January 2010 before undertaking three years of specialist hand and wrist training. These fellowships included Ganga Hospital, India and the John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, Australia and Paris, France at L’institut de la Main (Institute of the Hand).

Dr Burgess currently runs a private practice in Hand and Wrist Surgery in Newcastle, Australia as well as providing a Hand Trauma On Call service at the Level 1 trauma Centre: the John Hunter Hospital.

Dr Burgess is the Director of Training for Orthopaedic Surgery at the John Hunter Hospital, an Executive Member and Scientific Secretary of the NSW Branch of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, a member of the Mentoring Committee of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

Dr Burgess is the President of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association Women Advocacy Society and a member of the Asian Pacific Orthopaedic Association Education Committee.
She is married with three young children.

Trained in Rochester MN, then Boston MA, Fellowships in Paediatric Orthopaedics and AO Trauma, worked in Indian Health Service (New Mexico), then rural NSW (Australia)
