Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon

About

I am an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Ghulam Mohammad Mahar Medical College and Teaching Hospital, Sukkur, Pakistan. I am a fellowship-trained orthopaedic and trauma surgeon with expertise in orthopaedic trauma, pediatric orthopaedics, deformity correction, and limb reconstruction. I am actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, clinical research, and surgical training and have authored multiple peer-reviewed scientific publications and serves as an FCPS supervisor, contributing to the advancement of orthopaedic education and evidence-based practice in Pakistan.

What made you join IODA?

I joined IODA because I believe orthopaedic surgery benefits from diverse perspectives and international collaboration. As an academic orthopaedic surgeon, I wanted to connect with colleagues worldwide, learn from different healthcare systems, contribute my experience, and participate in initiatives that promote education, mentorship, and equitable musculoskeletal care.

How have you approached DEI in your workplace?

I promote an inclusive, respectful, and merit-based workplace by ensuring equal opportunities for trainees and colleagues, regardless of gender or background. As an Associate Professor and FCPS supervisor, I encourage open participation, mentorship, collaborative research, and fair access to learning opportunities, fostering teamwork and professional growth.

How do you define inclusion?

Inclusion means creating an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and empoered to contribute, with equitable access to opportunities regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances.

What is your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement is contributing to the development of future orthopaedic surgeons through teaching and mentorship while providing high-quality patient care. Building a strong academic and clinical training environment in a resource-limited setting has been especially meaningful.
