Scholarships & bursaries for individuals who are under-represented in orthopaedics help break down barriers, increase access to education, and foster diversity. â€‹

These opportunities empower recipients to contribute to their communities, drive innovation, and promote social equity and inclusion within the field of orthopaedics.​

Scholarships & Bursaries will be advertised to IODA members via email and on social media.

You must be an IODA member to apply so join now!

The Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Annual Scientific Meeting is the premier event for orthopaedic surgeons in Australia, held annually to facilitate education, networking, and professional development. The event will be held in Oct 2026.

Australian Orthopaedic Association IODA Emerging Leaders Forum Bursary

AOA Emerging Leaders Forum (ELF) Bursary 2026
IODA Members applicants must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Fully Qualified Surgeon practising in an Asia Pacific nation

  • In first 10 years of practice at time of application

  • Female OR from a racial minority OR practicing in a low-resource nation

The ELF provides an opportunity to support the development of future leaders in the health sector and to nurture relationships with early-career members of our own (and other) invited surgical societies. This premium event is a chance for delegates to be inspired by guest speakers from a variety of backgrounds and network with colleagues and experts from the broader health sector. Learn more ...
