Tyler Kelly, MD, is a postdoctoral research trainee at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, working in the Departments of Rheumatology and Orthopaedic Surgery. She was awarded an NIH T32 grant to support research to assess how advancements in the medical management of rheumatoid arthritis have influenced surgical management and outcomes for patients undergoing foot and ankle surgery.
She recently earned her Doctorate of Medicine degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Greenville. A proud HBCU alumna, Tyler graduated summa cum laude from Xavier University of Louisiana with a degree in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Spanish.
Her passion for orthopaedic surgery was sparked by an early interest in sports medicine and a strong desire to promote lifelong, healthy participation in sports across diverse communities. She has actively cultivated this passion through extensive clinical, research, and extracurricular experiences. Dedicated to working with diverse patient populations, Tyler finds fulfillment in both the surgical and non-surgical management of acute, congenital, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. She is currently applying for residency in orthopaedic surgery, with particular interests in pediatrics and sports medicine. In her free time, Tyler enjoys being outdoors, roller skating (roller derby), spending time with family and friends, and immersing herself in documentaries.

I am a 3rd year medical student at Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM). I am from Columbia, MO and recently decided on the wonderful specialty of Orthopaedic Surgery! Diversity, equity and inclusion are important to me, and I hope to make an impact on this field and in medicine in general. I am part of Student National Medical Association. I serve as the multicultural affairs subcommittee chair and have collaborated with other minority organizations to help foster communication and cultural competency and awareness across diverse backgrounds. I am excited to see what the future has in store and I am excited to be a part of this organization!

As someone who is very passionate about orthopaedics and musculoskeletal care, I’m currently a medical student at Florida International University, pursuing a research fellow at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. I aspire to become an orthopaedic surgeon and help to continue advancing the field and sparking meaningful change.

Marc Kowalsky, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, with subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He completed two subspecialty fellowships: the first in Sports Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital/Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma, and the second in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine. He has expertise in the surgical and nonsurgical management of sports injury of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He treats complex shoulder and elbow conditions, including degenerative disease, trauma, and revision surgery. He has a particular interest in the management of shoulder and elbow arthritis, instability, ligament and tendon injuries, as well as knee ligament injury and cartilage disorders.

Dr. Kowalsky has authored original research manuscripts, review articles, and textbook chapters focusing on rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement, and AC joint reconstruction. He currently serves as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and the American Journal of Sports Medicine. He serves on the Executive Committee of the American Clinical Elbow and Shoulder Surgeons, and is an active member of The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, a society made up of the leading national and international shoulder and elbow surgeons.

Dr. Kowalsky has cared for college and professional athletes at every level of competition. As a sports medicine fellow, he was an assistant team physician for the New York Jets and the New York Islanders. He has provided sports medicine coverage for the Tournament of Champions Squash Tournament and the United States of America Open Tennis Championship. He currently serves as team physician for the White Plains Rugby Football Club, Iona College Rugby Football Club, and the Greenwich High School Rugby Team. He currently serves as medical director for the Northeast Academy national development rugby program. Dr. Kowalsky is a team physician for the CT Whale of the National Women’s Hockey League, and for the USA Rugby National Team.
